Preparation of glasses under defined conditions

A laboratory oven with a hermetically sealed heating compartment allows the melting of samples in a defined atmosphere using a pressure range of 1-150 kPa and at a maximum temperature of 1400 ° C. After insertion of the sample, the heating space is repeatedly evacuated and refilled using a selected gas mixture. During heating, a controlled atmosphere is ensured by the flow of the gas through the heating space. When melting under a reducing atmosphere (such as hydrogen), the gas at the outlet from the oven is burned by the built-in burner.
